Sesame oil has a warming effect, so it is good to rub it on the chest, head, feet, and palms in case of colds, flu, dry cough, lung inflammation, and asthma. For earaches, two to three drops of warm oil can be dripped into the ears at night.
In the case of hemorrhoids of the Vata type, which is accompanied by loss of appetite and pain not only in the rectal area but also in the pelvic, back, lower abdomen, and bladder areas, with hemorrhoidal nodes feeling dry, hard, uneven, rarely bleeding or swelling, and with a lack of appetite - in these cases warm sesame oil or Mahanarayan oil based on it is applied externally in the anal area or in the form of enemas (half a cup in the evening).
If a little camphor, cardamom, and cinnamon are added to sesame oil, it can be applied to the head for migraines and dizziness.
During the cold season, it is good to do Abhyanga - a full-body oil massage at least once a week. For this, one tablespoon of oil (previously heated) is slightly warmed, then gently massaged into the skin for 15-20 minutes, followed by a warm shower. The oil massage energizes our body and eliminates stagnation on its surface, nourishes the heart, calms the mind, gives elasticity to muscles and ligaments, and strengthens bones.
Sesame oil contains a lot of solar energy, so when consumed internally (1 tsp on an empty stomach), it rejuvenates the body, strengthens bones and teeth, lubricates the walls of the stomach and intestines well, which promotes better digestion.
During an oil massage, the skin undergoes a strong detoxification process, so sesame oil massage plays a significant role in Panchakarma clinics. The skin and the gastrointestinal tract are physical barriers that separate us from the environment and control the entry into the body, allowing nutrients to pass through and blocking pathogens. When the skin is cleansed of all impurities, the condition of the gastrointestinal tract improves. People with a predominance of Vata constitution need oil massage more than those with another constitution, as it promotes their "grounding" and also has protective anti-radiation properties. The external and internal use of medicinal oils (especially sesame) is a fundamental method used by Ayurveda to balance Vata constitution and regulate Vata-related conditions.
Foot oil massage promotes healthy sleep. If you have weak eyesight, apply oil to the nails of the big toes before bed.
